GBC Shredmaster SC 030 Personal Wastebasket Paper Shredder Review

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Overview: The GBC Shredmaster SC-030 paper shredder is designed for light personal use in a home office or small office environment where you need to shred less than 250 sheets of paper per day. The SC-030 is a strip cut paper shredder that is designed to shred up to six sheets of 20lb paper at a time. It easily fits on top of your circular or rectangular trash can while leaving room for you to still use the can for regular garbage. This review will take a quick look at the strengths, features, weaknesses and limitations of the SC30 paper cutter.Strengths / Features: The Shredmaster SC 30 is designed to fit on almost any wastebasket or trash receptacle in an office environment. It includes a small section that can be adjusted for baskets as small as 11″ across and as wide as 14.5″ across. No wastebasket is included with the SC-030 since it is designed to fit on top of the wastebasket that you already own. The Shredmaster SC-30 can handle up to 6 sheets of paper at a time. It also includes heavy duty steel cutting blades that are capable of handling documents with paper clips or staples. It includes a feature that turns the shredder on automatically when paper is inserted in the throat. Or you can select the forward setting to turn the paper shredder on manually or the reverse setting to help remove paper jams. The Shredmaster SC-030 cuts documents into strips that are 9/32″ (7mm) wide.Weaknesses / Limitations: The Shredmaster SC030 is designed for small volume shredding applications in an office or personal setting. If you attempt to shred documents continuously for more than 2 minutes you will most likely find that the shredder will turn off and require up to 30 minutes to cool down. The SC 30 only has an 8-3/4″ wide throat. This is designed for shredding documents that are letter sized by feeding them into the shredder with the short end first. However, the small throat size of this shredder greatly reduces productivity and limits its ability to handle larger format documents. Although some users prefer a strip cut shredder, the SC-030 is less secure than a cross cut model and can quickly fill a small wastebasket with shredded paper.Recommendation: The Shredmaster SC-030 is ideal for users who are looking for a small reliable shredder to set on top of their wastebasket so that they can shred a few pages at a time without having to leave their desk. The SC-30 is not ideal for any type of volume shredding application and can quickly overheat if you attempt to shred paper continuously. It will also jam if you attempt to shred more than six sheets at a time. Still, it is a great economical paper shredding solution that comes with the strength of the GBC Shredmaster brand and carries a 2 year warranty on the motor and a 5 year warranty on the cutting heads. If you need more information or would like to purchase the GBC Shredmaster SC 030 Personal Wastebasket Paper Shredder or any of the other GBC Shredmaster Shredders that we carry please feel to visit our site or contact us with your questions. This review was written by Jeff McRitchie who is the director of marketing for Mybinding.com Jeff has written more than three hundred articles and more than two hundred reviews on Binding Machines, Binding Supplies, Report Covers, 3-Ring Binders, Index Tabs, Laminators, Laminating Supplies, Paper Shredders and Paper Handling Equipment

Choosing The Right Baseball Bat For You

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

This years’ baseball season is here and parents I understand how you feel. It almost as if you’re buying a new baseball bat every year, especially if you have younger kids playing that are literally growing right out of their equipment right before your eyes. When it comes to purchasing a new baseball bat though, it can really wear on you when it comes time to pull out your wallet. It’s understandable; these aluminum baseball bats nowadays are very pricey. It then becomes that much more important to choose the right baseball bat.The quality is there if you consider the amount of use you can get out of an aluminum baseball bat. Most aluminum baseball bats will last through a rigorous season of many practices and games, but some are a better bang for your buck than others. The big question is which bat to get? There are so many makes and models to choose from that it is not always an easy decision. Of course you will be looking for a bat that suits every need. It has to be a bat that is a controllable size and feels comfortable. The bat should be very responsive and most importantly it should last. How do you know you have covered all of these points? By doing some research and perhaps a little ‘trial and error,’ you will find the best bat to buy. See if your child can ask a teammate to swing their bat a few times to see what an appropriate size is. If they can somehow actually hit with it a few times, that’s even better. Try and notice how much ‘pop’ some of your top choices are when others are using them. Obviously if a particular bat works for one person, it doesn’t guarantee the same results for the next person. It is just another way of getting an idea. You can certainly ask around or look for sources offering baseball bat reviews that will discuss the components of the bats and give reviews about the durability and expected performance. Most websites with reviews will have Louisville Slugger, Demarini, Rawlings, and Easton baseball bat reviews because they are the more common bat makers.Joe Rodgers has taught baseball swing mechanics at all competitive levels of baseball.
